Trauma bonded, business minded

We met the way all great business partnerships start:
on a field trip in Kansas City.

Back in her teaching days, Sarah had a group of students at a convention, including Susan’s daughter, who had a medical scare. In a total panic, Sarah called Susan to come right away. Susan jumped in the car for an 8-hour drive with only her cell phone (no charger) and broke every speed limit on the way.

The convention had every hotel room booked, so Susan had to bunk with Sarah. One set of borrowed pj’s and one front-desk toothbrush later, we like to say we slept together on our first date. We also say we trauma bonded. Both are true.

We stayed in touch long after graduation. Years later, Sarah was ready to go full time in real estate and called Susan, who was still teaching and selling real estate on the side. We were immediately successful together (fate? serendipity?), so we started a team.

Team MVP grew to 13 people fast. Susan had to make the jump to full-time real estate after realizing that juggling 65 closings , becoming a grandma and her full time teaching job was, well, too much. Eventually, we realized we were running our team like a brokerage, so in May 2025 we disbanded the team, brought everyone with us, and opened our own Listing Leaders franchise in Crown Point, Indiana: Listing Leaders MVPs.

Today we’re 35 agents strong, with over $50 million a year in volume. We also opened a real estate school, and now we’re spreading our wings again.

So yes, we have a podcast.
Homework is optional. Tangents are not.

Not bad for two teachers and a complimentary toothbrush.
